3 Things Enterprise owners can do to become Institution-builders
1. Be a PRINCIPLED Brand Ambassador for Your Industry / Community
2. Ensure a CULTURE of Excellence
3. Consolidate your Personal NET WORTH and Company BALANCE SHEET
At the outset do note, it is enterprise OWNERS I am referring to and not operators.
1. Be a PRINCIPLED Brand Ambassador for Your Industry / Community
Raising your vision from your company / group / organization to your industry / community is a transitioning milestone. Your focus is shifting from the commercial world to the fabric of SOCIETY; from a materialistic world to the non-material/spiritual realm. The time horizon you now relate too also significantly increases.
Practically, it could play out when you make the transition from the hustle and bustle of being in the executive position of Managing Director to quieter and more reclusive Chairman. You now use your long-expertise and standing to build bridges with the Establishment to influence and bring in reform.
2. Ensure a CULTURE of Excellence
Culture-building is very easy – when you lead by consistent personal example. If this is not there, what’s the point of talking about it?
3. Consolidate your Personal NET-WORTH and Company BALANCE SHEET
I poke my coachees: The Bottom Line feeds you, whilst the Top Line feeds your ego. Again to Robert Kiyosaki – Your Balance Sheet is your commercial Report Card. I personally prefer inculcating the requisite financial habits and discipline in my coachees; rather than ‘Dressing up the Bride’ approach.
The reason entrepreneurs don’t have much to show is because they may not have focused enough in building their Personal Net-worth and consolidating the Organizational Balance Sheet(s).
Those who are strong in both inevitably stand out in imperceptible ways. Because money talks, wealth whispers.
