Why does this Business Coach get into Life Coaching Issues?
If you look at the attached graphic, you will notice that Personal Mastery is at the very bottom and above it is Relationship Mastery. All higher levels rest on these two levels.
I often reiterate that Personal Mastery is the invisible foundation for all accomplishment. Much of what we accomplish is through relationships – and that includes relationship with Self, Others, Universe, God and Money.
Every foundational/core pattern thus impacts the rest of the edifice either positively (strengthening/harmonising) or negatively (weakening/disrupting) – whether you accept it or not, choose to see it or ignore it.
Let us consider the Johari Window; the 4 quadrants are as follows:
1. I know, you know = Open Area
2. I know, you don’t know; unless you ask and/or I Share/Disclose.
3. I don’t know, you know = Unless I seek and/or you give feedback
4. I don’t know; you don’t know = Dark Area

A competent Coach operates in this Dark Area, by making the receptive coachee aware of blind spotspointing out lingering patterns and cautioning against possible/impending implications.
Clarification: These are not predictions cast in stone, but pointers to the consequent trajectory of current beliefs, values and behavior patterns. Alter your beliefs, values and pattern and the trajectory promptly gets altered.
The objective is not about being right, as is sometimes perceived; but to seize the attention of the conscious mind (of the coachee) in a provocative manner to initiate urgent, corrective action. Often this shock treatment works; but may disrupt a fragile relationship.
Let me end with the definition of a Coach: A Coach is one who makes you do, what you do not want to do; so that you can be, the best you could ever be.
As you get coached, you become a tougher and more resilient person with higher standards, better habits and regular accomplishments under your belt – though initially many of them may be of the intangible variety.
